Who Am I

I was formally educated in art and began painting at an early age. It has been my life’s main passion. Although like most of us, as life’s events unfold and circumstances change, especially by becoming a mum, we lose contact with many of our early years’ friendships. The canvas, however, has remained with me. Now that my children are less dependent, giving me more time to feel my aspirations, I lovingly reinvigorated my relationship with the canvas. I have no idea of what my paintings will look like at the outset. Each one embodies my feeling, or even a series of feelings, that I experience whilst I communicate with the canvas. This time-consuming and meandering process evolves my artwork, often into something quite different from the outset. Just as nature can change a caterpillar into a beautiful butterfly.

This is what I want to bring into my artwork: the beauty and the power of nature.

My Artwork

My inspiration is rooted in mother nature. It captivated my imagination, unexpectedly, whilst I was walking my dog. He was sniffing an old tree trunk when I noticed how intricate its bark was and that nature alone had manifested this beauty. Most people see the ugliness of decaying tree bark, a rusty stain in a painted wall or broken concrete. Close up, I see nature’s fascinating beauty. I now take close up photographs of nature’s “ugly-beauty”, and keep them as inspiration for my art. Additionally, trees, very often, live longer and witness more than we do. And when considering countless other awesome feats of nature, I genuinely feel insignificant to the power of nature.

Through my paintings, the pristine beauty associated with untouched nature encourages us to preserve it.
